“Johnny” is a native Charlotean who recently moved back home and began working at GessnerLaw. Johnny attended the University of South Carolina where he received his B.A. in Political Science and went on to get his J.D. from Campbell Law School in 2017.
During law school, Johnny excelled in advocacy competitions as well as courses with an emphasis on writing. He was also a summer research assistant for the Legal Research and Writing Program and published 20+ articles for The Campbell Law Observer.
After law school, Johnny accepted a position with a general practice law firm in Western North Carolina where he practiced primarily in the areas of domestic law, criminal law, and estate planning. His success in the courtroom and passion for litigation led him to an opportunity with the Public Defender’s office in 2019. As an Assistant Public Defender, Johnny gained a wide array of experience defending against misdemeanor charges as well as upper-level felonies.
Johnny brings a unique blend of skills and experiences to GessnerLaw’s clients. He is a practical and mindful advocate who understands the stress that comes with a lawsuit and the tenacity it takes to obtain a just result.
Johnny is recently engaged and has a dog and cat to match. He enjoys cheering for the Gamecocks, Panthers, and Hornets. He also likes live music, golfing, and eating at new restaurants.
